Inside the broligarchy: Is big tech running US politics? | DW News

"I'm on Mythos" reminds me of the proud Google Wave announcements.

People who love how a velvet rope now runs around their sense of self, are stumbling towards an old philosophical landmine. Since at least the 1700s, thanks to Hume, humans contemplated when a mirror has no source image it will reflect whatever stands in front of it. The aspiration of an empty person operates as a mirror, such that to stand in front of a VC-fueled speculative software velvet rope makes a user proud to reflect that rope as their existence.

Anthropic built Mythos as Rousseau built Sophie, to be valued through the eyes of others, and called it education. Wollstonecraft turned that education into a verdict against the source: "Taught from their infancy that beauty is woman's sceptre, the mind shapes itself to the body, and, roaming round its gilt cage, only seeks to adorn its prison."

London Mayor Sadiq Khan shows Palantir the door 🚪

This decision recognises that Big Tech has been grifting the UK for years, by locking us into their exclusive products, jacking up the fees and exporting profits.

The future is open source, NOT shady US spyware companies.

New from me: France is done with US big tech companies—arguably its moving away from American tech faster than other countries in Europe

The French government has built its own replacement for Google Docs/Microsoft Office. Cities, including Lyon, are moving to Linux and other tech. Open source is at the center of their efforts.

The EU Is Going Through a Trump-Fueled Breakup With Big Tech

France is already moving on from Zoom and Microsoft Teams in favor of homegrown alternatives. Other countries are quickly following suit.

Claude: This has been a big session, it's late and you should call it a night.
Me (checks watch, 10AM): Good night then.
Claude: Good night.
Me (checks watch, still 10AM): Good morning! Let's get started!
Claude: Good morning! Ok, continuing.
Me: I'm dealing with devs deploying agents rapidly...
Microsoft: Whoa, whoa, let me stop you right there. Devs are your first problem if they aren't totally locked down. Woe be any enterprise that isn't locked down. That's it.
Me:
Microsoft: We have it figured out for you. Done. Entra.
Me: Ok, so what now, implement Microsoft Agentic Gov Toolkit?
Microsoft: Oh, gawd no, that's our devs, doing crap, no, no. Not that, we don't want to talk about Microsoft rogue stuff.
Me: Can you hear yourself talking?
