"SpongeBob SuperSponge" is a mid "Yoshi's Island" clone, released days after 9/11. I vaguely remember having it as a kid & being unimpressed, thinking of it as a "snes game on the #psx . Played it with my kid today, had fun with it.
There's no crying baby, instead you got sonic rings but they're spatulas and the eggs are jellyfish.
I think my younger brother got this one dirt cheap during the PS2 era, which would've made it that much more unimpressive. We were both scooping up discounted PSX games to play on the PS2 all the way into the late 2000's. Same with Gamecube games to play on the Wii.
Played "Hot Shot's Golf" the #psx this weekend. I love golf games (not wild about the actual sport) & had played this one before. It's the original & you can tell the best is yet to come but it's a fine golf game. Had part 3 on the ps2 as a kid, so it gives me gta1 vibes.
Back when GTA5 was new I used to play at least 9 holes everyday after work. "Kirby Dream Course" for the SNES is probably my favorite golf game, it isn't special or perfect I've just played it a lot. Played a lot of "Golf with Friends" back in its Steam early access days too.
Been busy, also been playing "Crash Bandicoot". Idk what to say that hasn't been said. Good start to a good series. Probably beat it over 12 times. It is a little more rough around the edges than its sequels & I like that, but I keep trying to do the double jump & slide from later games tho. #psx
I didn't have this one as a kid, but one of the kids across the street did and he'd trade me it for "Star Wars: Masters of TerΓ€s KΓ€si" for weeks on end.
The "N Sane Trilogy" versions are okay but I kinda hate them. They look like garbage and have weird physics (same with the Spyro remakes).
I somehow managed to clip behind the rock and crash is just not having it.
Time for bed!
Tawna is kinda cursed looking in Crash 96, and even more cursed looking in the remake somehow. Never played it but the AU Tawna from the 4th game looks a lot better but Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
Might just do "Crash 2" tonight.
Widescreen Crash 2 makes me feel like my controller is shaped wrong.
I use the pixie shader most of the time to make it look even worse. Love me some fake scanlines
There are apparently some HD texture packs out there but I have yet to find them.
Aw hell yeah, the Scrubbing Bubbles are in this one.
I'm gonna scream.
Who the fuck are the Komodo Brothers?
I never want to be pedantic but those grey things are Possums or Phalangeriformes without the o from Australia. Opossum, or Didelphimorphia with the O is the critter we have in the US.
I'm trying not to hurt them
Crash 2 is done. It's bedtime

Somehow the Crash 2 post got posted outta thread.

Attached: 1 image "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back" is an improvement, but I still like the original more. The sewer levels were probably my favorite level theme. I didn't like the space levels. I probably played this one the least as a kid, despite actually owning this one. #psx

It's midnight and I'm in the yard getting ready to play crash 3
Let's a' go!... I mean WOAH!
"Toad village" was a vibe while watching "Dunk & Egg" or whatever stupid name HBO gave it.
Got a late start last night & only played 2 levels & just watched tv. It was nice being outside tho. I didn't wanna use my g350 because it's only 3.5" & I'm old, but I had trouble with duckstation on my tablet. Eventually used retroarch. Might move the save to my g350 & just wear reader's tonight.
It's late. I'm in the hammock with g350 listening to a book and hitting my pen.
There was a random guy cutting across the field at 01:15 who got scared shitless when murf started stranger barking at him.
I woke up at 04:30 in the hammock
Still been playing Crash 3. Actually just beat that ridiculous star fox boss fight. There enough rockets on screen that it started to slow down, which is kinda funny on duckstation. Not going for 100% but kinda dropped off the gems in world 3. That one relic is for "Toad Village" and it's a plat.
In level 13 "High Time", I went all the way to the end to get all the boxes, didn't go to the counter to get the grey gem and then backtracked to do the skull path. After I exited I realized I didn't pick up the grey and was DONE for that night.
Beat level, hit vape, save game, drink water, beat level
"Bye Bye Blimps" and "Mad Bomber" are good.
"Crash Bandicoot 3 - Warped" is the best Crash game, even now. I actually liked the different play styles on offer, but the 2nd motorcycle level can fuck off. I had this one as a kid, it was probably our most played game.
Kinda want to do "Spyro", but I played through the first one last september.
Conveniently played "Scooby Doo: Cyber Chase" for the #psx the past few nights. Found it on a list of Crash clones & it's not great. It's a lil slow and cramped compared to the real thing. My 1st grader was a fan & kept running out of ammo.

Attached: 3 images I played "Maximo: Ghosts To Glory" & "Katamary Damacy" on the #ps2 on my crt. Maximo was fun. I didn't realize I had 1 continue & kept missing the save points. Might play more tonight. "Katamary" is an s tier experience but we all already know that. Wish there were more 2 player maps in this one.

Played a few games in "NHL Open Ice 2 on 2 Challenge" for the #psx, while the Stanley Cup, It is just "NBA Jam" but with hockey, which is to say it's really good. Played 3 games & won 2. When this game was released the Canes were still the "Hartford Whalers".
Also played "NHL Rock the Rink" and it was dogshit. I did like that their games were first to 5 instead of 9 minutes. Despite being released in 2000, It was just 90s 'tude-slop but for hockey.
I believe next game is my 50th for the psx, which is something like 3%
Played some "Crash Team Racing" after the game. Probably the best "Diddy Kong Racing" clone out there. Growing up we had a demo with just one track with multiplayer & we were fine with it. I have played a lot of the remake on switch, so the og felt incomplete.
It was this demo disc... https://game-rave.com/?p=25027
Heard about the arcstation on youtube & I'm extremely excited about a solderless drive replacement existing for the #psx, but since $160 preorder that ships from Ukraine in September, it might as well not exist for me. Maybe I can get a bootleg one for cheaper off AliExpress or something in 5 years.
Me & my kid played "Muppet Racemania" for the #psx after dinner. It was rough. We had a bad time and turned it off to play a better game. I might try again alone but idk about it.
Since I already had "muppet" typed into Duckstation's search bar we played "Muppet Monster Adventure". Seems like a nice Spyro clone, but my kid did most of the playing. She said I can't play it without her now, so maybe we'll try to 100% it together over the next few weeks.
Looks like "CTR" was my 50th #psx since I started. "Muppet Monster Adventure" was 52.
