does this version bug you with ads / nudges to register?

my memory is vague but i remember having to install and older versions for a couple of friends who did music/sound

Don't know if it bugs people with ads, etc. People's main problem with Audacity is that it started collecting user data after it was purchased by Muse Group. They were sending the data to Google. Not sure what the status is of that now. Because I'm not sure I'm just sticking with versions before 3.0 which are all I really need.

Cool! Thanks for the response. Very helpful. I see that versions downloaded through Linux distro's repos would probably be network-free by default. I'll give it a go.
@rzeta0 No ads during our tests. There's just this in the new Welcome dialog. Also, you probably have to register on audio.com if you want to store projects in the cloud, but they don't force you to do that. You can always store them locally.
