For all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Drought Monitor showed 46.93 percent of the area in moderate drought or worse, compared with 48.78 percent a week earlier.

For all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Drought Monitor showed 46.93 percent of the area in moderate drought or worse, compared with 48.78 percent a week earlier.
Drought conditions improved in large areas this week across southern states from Texas to Florida and across Plains states from Oklahoma to South Dakota. Drought intensified in northern Minnesota, in smaller areas of eastern states from North Carolina to Connecticut, and in smaller patches west of the Mississippi.
