I keep finding more and more ways that the Roci from the show is woefully inadequate compared to the Roci in the books.

This galley would be completely unusable if the ship is at null-g. That coffee maker would just spray scalding hot fluid all over the place, even before Holden broke it.

Ashford on the show is way more likable than he is in the book.

Unfortunately, as much as I love Carmina, the security officer Bull in the book, which is one of the characters she replaces, is more interesting. He was an earther who repatriated to the belt, so much of his story was about him proving himself to the belter crew of The Behemoth. Carmina has none of that, she's belt through and through.

I think Clarissa Mao (Melba) is also more interesting in the book. In the book she's the boss of the maintenance crew, but is way out of her depth. Her subordinates figure it out and lend her a hand, and she forms a rapport with them.

When Ren finds the bomb she planted, she is legitimately torn about having to kill him, and his death haunts her long afterwards.

In the show she comes across as a sociopath who kills her boss on the first day of work.
