Edinburgh friends, I'm thinking of buying a bike for the first time in quite a few years (early 50s guy here!). I'm probably looking for a hybrid for city and non-MTB use.

My question is: what friendly bike shops in the city would you recommend? I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on a new bike, but have no recent experience in any of this!

Thanks in advance!

@brian I’ve found the Bike Coop in Bruntsfield to be pretty good, but I’m sure there are many others too.

Thanks Donald. I had a bit of an unhelpful experience with the Bike Coop, which was probably my fault but I’m slightly wary. Will check out the CCE forum, thanks, and am already following @edi_dot_bike - great account!

@brian fair enough, it was quite a few years ago I got my bike there, and it sometimes just depends who you speak to

@drnoble

Yeah, totally agree. I know they have a good reputation - just one of those things, I think.
