@maartje stupid fun fact about dying in the Netherlands while being employed: the last salary payment from someone that dies while employed will be payed out completely tax free (bruto = netto) to help cover for the burial costs.

@smveerman @maartje tax free or no withholding so the estate remains responsible to pay the taxes? (Though with progressive tax brackets, you're probably getting a refund anyway.)

@ruben @maartje Posthumous pay is subject to payroll tax, but the mandatory payment of one month’s salary and the remaining holiday pay are paid out free of payroll tax and are also exempt from inheritance tax.
