Edinburgh friends, I'm thinking of buying a bike for the first time in quite a few years (early 50s guy here!). I'm probably looking for a hybrid for city and non-MTB use.

My question is: what friendly bike shops in the city would you recommend? I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on a new bike, but have no recent experience in any of this!

Thanks in advance!

@brian I'm a bit out of touch with Edinburgh bike shops, been a long time since I worked in Williamson's (that became Tiso/Alpine Bikes) in Stockbridge...

Maybe @daveybot can recommend. Based on his fine bicycle, that's where I'd go!

Attached: 2 images A very happy little bike ride for World Bicycle Day, in the end! Edinburgh’s really not a bad city for cycling, actually, though it could certainly be better! Still, lovely to get down to the shore and pose my little vehicle next to an absolutely enormous one. I’ve always thought my bike looks rather like a simple illustration of a bike, and since it was recently serviced it’s an absolute dream to thrash around town. Love it muchly. #WorldBicycleDay

@jbenjamint @daveybot

Thank you! I’ve already salivated a bit over @daveybot’s amazing looking bike (not literally; that would be quite weird 😬). Maybe a good second-hand bike is the way to go.

@brian @jbenjamint I got mine from Eastside which is sadly no more, but it’s former home is being turned into a new store (Interlaced Cycles) as we speak. Don’t know anything more about them, yet! Recently I had mine serviced by Pedal Forth on Leith Walk and they were great.

@daveybot @jbenjamint

Thanks! I’ll keep my eyes on that new shop. I’ve heard good things about Pedal Forth too.

@brian @daveybot @jbenjamint damnit, that's a great shop name!
