These buggers are absolutely everywhere in the woods now, and in large numbers. They may be annoying, but I'd rather have 100 mosquitos on me than one single tick.

Im glad I didnt see any on my hike today.
I lost count of the number I saw today :)

I hate them but this photo is stunning!
Thank you! I had to wait a while until one of the countless mosquitoes chose the right spot and orientation so that I could take a photo one-handed with the other hand, and hope that AF did a good joob. Took a couple of tries but it turned out better than I expected.
One-handed? Congrats, it wasn't easy, but the result is perfect! What camera did you use? (I wouldn't have gotten stung, haha)
This one (picture from last year)
@arcturus this beast with one hand? Oh wow!
🀯🀯🀯 The presence of mind and patience you have is incredible. Are you some sort of zen master?!
I wish I was :D But not really, I'm just used to them, they are not a major disease vector here and I luckily rarely get any flaring up or itching from their bites as some do.
It's amazing that I was able to capture it

@arcturus

Fantastic photograph!!
And your remark is so true! We could do without all these mosquitoes but ticks are much, much worse.
I know that well having just one (not for the first time) from my tummy yesterday. Apart from the difficulty of removing it, the disgust when it collapses on you and the concern about Lyme disease stays with you for ages.

Thanks for sharing. Lovely camera too btw...
