I'm about ready to sell off my 3090ti and get an AMD card. Holy shit the Linux support is awful

@darfplatypus

I recently "upgraded" from an NVidia RTX 4070 to an AMD RX 9060 XT when I moved from Windows to Linux and it has been a huge improvement in my sanity, if not my frame rate. It worked right out of the box, even when hooked up to a goofy eGPU TB3 rig.

@DaveMWilburn I'm about done with Ubuntu's bullshit too tbh. Tbh I'm teetering on the BSD edge.

@darfplatypus

*sigh*... yeah. I was a (mostly) very happy BSD user around the turn of the century, and it'd be nice to go back to a world without stupid Snaps and Systemd and other bullshit. I'm more than a little hesitant to jump ship, though. I'm not really sure the HW and SW support is there for many of my use cases. My next OS upgrade might be to Debian, but we'll see.

@DaveMWilburn honestly waiting for the SteamCube and will likely nuke my PC and section off my gaming like I offloaded my homelab stuff to its own box. Trying to mutli-use PCs seems to be more and more of a headache than it should be lately
@darfplatypus if you wanna offload your 3090ti, let me know :D
@Viss my only problem is replacing it with something modern is more than I paid for this whole box 😅
@darfplatypus i have an Ubuntu desktop with a 3090ti and i don't have any problems with it. which drivers are you using?
@darfplatypus having something that just slots in and works is so fucking nice.
