Eine recht ausführliche Analyse der Suchmaschine DuckDuckGo von @protonprivacy. Fazit: DuckDuckGo ist nicht perfekt, aber aus Datenschutzperspektive betrachtet immerhin sehr viel weniger invasiv als die Suche von Google. Ich verwende derzeit am häufigsten @ecosia, gefolgt von DuckDuckGo.

@hp @protonprivacy @ecosia - the biggest issue with DuckDuckGo is that for all their promotion of a more private alternative to Google, it’s still based in the US, and so liable to legal demands (and less legal incursions) by US agencies.
Search engines (like Ecosia) based in the EU are governed by far stronger privacy and security laws (even applied to governments).

@hp but an US-based company. I switched from DuckDuckGo to Ecosia a few months ago and never felt the need to go back to it. I am using Ecosia at work, and also at home for my personal projects.

Curious to know what you still use it for 😇

@hp @protonprivacy @ecosia My problem with DuckDuckGo is it was using some russian search enginers, which as a Ukrainian I do not want my queries to go to. As far as I know there are no controls to disable some search engines it sends my queries to.
