Robin the Witch

Shout out to all the 80s/90s UK kids who used the word nonce to describe themselves (or others) as being akin to a numpty or a silly billy. I have felt such relief in discovering that it wasn't just me who didn't realise the actual meaning of the world. Such innocence but also so much cringing!

@robinthewitch Yank here, but watched a fair amount of UK TV as a kid and teen.

Thought for ages that the phrase was “saw it off”. Once I had internet access (late 90s) a nice person gently corrected me that it’s “sod off”. 🫠

@robinthewitch oh my gods! Same for both me and hubby. Our daughter fucking ripped us a new one for not knowing this and “misusing” that word. Had to tell her to wind her neck in and that her gen did not invent language 😆😆😆
