Eh@OGJester @MHowell laser based projectors these days are quite cheap and bright. Something for basic text of that size, you could probably spend a couple grand. If you just want to put it on a building, say 10m or so, you can usually use a smaller one that's only a few hundred dollars. The secret is all in the lumen and throw distance. When the tech was coming out i was throwing an idea around of building sacrificial rigs with a raspi, battery and projector to project onto buildings.
@OGJester @MHowell for small projectors any electronics store should have them. If they sell tvs they will usually sell the cheap laser projectors. For something with more punch you will need to contact a av hire company or supplier. My recommendation is christie if you have money to splurge otherwise panasonic (though they have closed their projection wing) NEVER USE BARCO.

For this type of stencil-like projections you don't even have to get into “dynamic” projectors.

@MHowell I don't know. I do understand why some celebrities end up having their own gym and movie theatre at home because they can't go out unnoticed. But I don't know you would want a boat the size of a ferry 🙂
