Neat.

An unprivileged user can crash Windows if it has a USB printer driver loaded.

No CVE because it doesn't meet MSRC's bar for servicing.

THEY WANT US SILENT. We’re turning up the volume. 🔊

Corporate bullies are weaponising the legal system with predatory lawsuits (SLAPPs) to silence anyone speaking out for the public good.

Javier Bardem and Yasmin Finney have joined forces with the Greenpeace network to expose this playbook of intimidation.

Waarschuwing vanuit de wetenschap aan de tech bros:

"Het waren de onwetendheid en nonchalance van het ancien régime over wat zich buiten de paleismuren afspeelde, die hen destijds naar de guillotine voerden."

🫶 Welcome back #Iran! Metrics show a further rise in connectivity as mobile networks and other segments are reconnected to the global internet:

• Filternet remains in place but can be worked around
• WhatsApp now restricted, requiring circumvention
• Some users still offline

From LB: "In ten days last month, the Wikimedia Foundation fired the longtime lead developer of MediaWiki and disbanded the team whose entire job was to listen to volunteers. Most of the people they fired were union organizers. Wikipedia’s editors are now threatening to strike....

The Foundation has spent twenty years telling donors it is not like other tech companies. The union drive is the moment when that claim either becomes true or admits it was always marketing." https://medium.com/@jakeorlowitz/wikipedia-is-doing-the-capitalist-thing-56a393232943

Linux kernel security list is drowning in duplicate AI-flagged bugs; same issues, with same tools, but different names of human submitters. Maintainers have now formalized the obvious - AI-found bugs are public by definition. New docs define 5 failure modes for AI-assisted reports: too long, Markdown-heavy, threat model-ignorant, reproducer-free, patch-free. Non-compliant reports risk being ignored. Most AI-flagged issues aren’t even real vulnerabilities anyway. 500 submitters, 1 CVE, 0 patches?
I am disappointed to discover that wine does not, in fact, make you better at French.
