There are folks who are willing to be a beacon. Then there are others who want to be, but are maybe a little scared. Seeing other beacons encourages them to let theirs shine.
So it’s an infectious sentiment with exponential potential.

@oldherl literally every act of solidarity is a risk. Nothing is absolute. But not doing the right thing because of that risk is not solidarity.
You’re either in or you’re not. And if you’re privileged, you had better be in. Marginalized folks aren’t responsible for being at the front of the line.
So, sure, there might be and edge case of a mole. But that’s moot.
Don’t overthink it. Just be a beacon.

I'm not lgbtq either myself but I support 100% and always defend them against the idiot phobes who bitch about Pride because they don't understand that it Exists Because Their hate exists..I'd pay good money to watch a stranger tell any of them who they're Allowed to love.

ra6bit@markwyner I think people overlook how much some of us who are out need to see our community, as well. I'm in the middle of nowhere- in my community I'm the strangest fish in the bowl. Being able to occasionally see how big my "posse" actually is, and how many people are fighting for our rights together, reminds me I'm not alone, even when I'm the only weird fish in this particular bowl.

This is the sentiment I share with folks who think protests are a waste of time. People often say it yields no change.
But even if the benefits aren’t overt, they exist. Being in a sea of people who share your feelings is so comforting and encouraging.
I’m sorry you’re mostly alone where you are. But it’s lovely to hear that you do see other fish in the bowl.
