We have stayed at Hirtshals camping in the past a few times while on cycle tour in Denmark.
We were going to start our summer cycle tour by taking the late boat from Norway to Hirtshals and camping a night there.
Hirtshals camping was always a bit on the expensive side but now it will cost our family of four EUR 76-50 to stay for one night in late June. In our own tent!
I guess we take the early boat instead and then use the time to find a free camping spot.
We know #Nordjylland well and seeing as it is our first cycle tour in six years we wanted somewhere close to home and flat.
Offspring nr 2 has been through a couple of years of #cancer treatment in the intervening period and we really do not know what their stamina is like.
So somewhere flat is a good start for their first proper post treatment cycle tour.
Maybe it is time to re-plan our summer cycle tour Sweden instead or even #ostfriesland ?
Just did a quick calculation. For EUR 76-50 and petrol at EUR 2 per litre we could get down to Ostfriesland for less than the cost of a night at Hirtshals camping.
Maybe if we can stay mostly in free camp spots in Nordjylland we could still do the trip as we had planned. Food costs somewhat less in Denmark than in Norway so maybe that could save the trip.
So, a bit of a puzzle - the prices I quoted were on this page.

However, when going through the booking system on the for the days concerned the price worked out at around EUR 65 for a night.
I could not work out why there is a difference between the given EUR prices and the price calculated in DKK in the booking system.
Either way, EUR 65 for one night, which, while it might be the going rate these days is still pretty steep.
