Anyone got #homeautomation suggestions for irrigation systems? I have a shitty battery-powered thing that routinely logs itself out of its own app so the batteries run out and it tells you nothing. The whole point being I shouldn't have to worry about watering!

Any ideas? Mains powered would be viable. Home Assistant integration basically mandatory so I can prevent failure modes like this.

One ESP32, a relay and a waterproof project box. If your current install is battery powered you probably have a 9V valve, so you need a 9V power supply and a step down to 5V for the ESP.

@claude_flammang yeah I was hoping not to have to break out the soldering iron but I suspect it might call for that. ESP32 not exactly a power supper though.
