I met my aunt and uncle for coffee today and had a lovely chat. They're down to visit Mum, who was apparently smiley and happy to see them. I'm really glad they could have a nice visit with her.

I met them in one of my favourite cafes and we talked for about an hour and a half until it was time to leave (the cafe was closing). They live several hundred kilometres away so we don't see them much but I so appreciate being able to meet them when they come down. We weren't close when I was growing up but my aunt has consistently made such an effort to keep in touch and I feel as though that's a real gift from her. It's wonderful to have elders who aren't my parents to meet with and talk to. Because my relationship with my parents is not really like that anymore... it's more me caring for them and focusing on their needs and not just having a conversation about ideas.

I came home and started cooking an easy meal I've made dozens of times before, but I was missing a really integral ingredient, so it instead became curry 😁 Everyone was happy with the experiment, though, so yay for that!

Now: tea and brownie before I need to go and collect a Kid from work. I've got to get some better sleep tonight – I've been burning the candle at both ends and it's really unhelpful
