Just realized that I never posted my thread about why Buttigieg cannot win the 2028 election here. Oops.
Way back when, mayor Pete's reform-minded chief of police, Daryl Boykins, recorded some of his officers making vile racist statements. So Buttigieg fired... the police chief.🤡
Boykins was the 1st Black police chief in city history, and was building trust with Black folk.
But it gets worse...
When Buttigieg took office, there were only 3 Black people in leadership positions in South Bend, including that police chief. Within 6 months there were zero.
But it gets worse...
There were allegations that Buttigieg donors were on the tapes that the police chief recorded, plotting with the officers on how to get rid of all the Black people in city leadership.
The Black community wanted to know if this was true. Buttigieg refused to release the tapes.
But it gets worse...
After all this, Buttigieg was polling at an impressive 0% with Black voters. Zero.
The press speculated that Black voters might not like Buttigieg because he is gay, essentially accusing all Black voters of homophobia (even the gay ones).🤦🏿♂️
Buttigieg leaned into this trope.
Because people infantilize Black folk, in particular Black men, they usually assume that they have more info than Black men voters, and make better decisions than us when presented with the same info.🤷🏿♂️
No one bothered to do what you did (ask Black men why they didn't like Buttigieg as a candidate).
White people that don't talk to or listen to enough Black people still believe that Buttigieg can be president in 2028.🤷🏿♂️
But that will never happen.
I said what I said. In 2020 Black men like me called the exact point his campaign would go from "surging🤡" to collapse.
We were right then and now.

There is no math that has a Dem win the presidential election without massive turnout from and support from, Black voters.
Buttigieg will not get that.
For the same reason that Biden's second attempt couldn't get that.
It's a self-defeating strategy to try to run people with this record.
Iowa and New Hampshire are irrelevant for predicting the next Dem president.

The anti-semites are almost all white evangelicals who are already in the bag for the GOP. They are easily outnumbered by a fully energized base that wants to vote for pluralistic multiracial secular democracy.
There are two groups that are reliable voters for that and the math needs both of them to be energized in the swing states. One of them is black people. The other is white non-religious people. Biden won because he had both behind him. In the swing states.
Keep running these candidates that black people and white non-religious people don’t support, and you keep losing.

Every single one of these dudes that wants to run for President needs to pick a state and run for Governor there first. If you haven't shown you can win a statewide election, and preferably demonstrate some executive experience.
Pete lives in Michigan now. There's a whole lot of races there he could be in but he isn't. We need way more decent state level officials than we need wannabe POTUS Superheroes.
