Just realized that I never posted my thread about why Buttigieg cannot win the 2028 election here. Oops.

Way back when, mayor Pete's reform-minded chief of police, Daryl Boykins, recorded some of his officers making vile racist statements. So Buttigieg fired... the police chief.🤡

Boykins was the 1st Black police chief in city history, and was building trust with Black folk.

But it gets worse...

When Buttigieg took office, there were only 3 Black people in leadership positions in South Bend, including that police chief. Within 6 months there were zero.

But it gets worse...

There were allegations that Buttigieg donors were on the tapes that the police chief recorded, plotting with the officers on how to get rid of all the Black people in city leadership.

The Black community wanted to know if this was true. Buttigieg refused to release the tapes.

But it gets worse...

After all this, Buttigieg was polling at an impressive 0% with Black voters. Zero.

The press speculated that Black voters might not like Buttigieg because he is gay, essentially accusing all Black voters of homophobia (even the gay ones).🤦🏿‍♂️

Buttigieg leaned into this trope.

Because people infantilize Black folk, in particular Black men, they usually assume that they have more info than Black men voters, and make better decisions than us when presented with the same info.🤷🏿‍♂️

No one bothered to do what you did (ask Black men why they didn't like Buttigieg as a candidate).

White people that don't talk to or listen to enough Black people still believe that Buttigieg can be president in 2028.🤷🏿‍♂️

But that will never happen.

I said what I said. In 2020 Black men like me called the exact point his campaign would go from "surging🤡" to collapse.

We were right then and now.

Which is why articles like this are silly.

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5898010-pete-buttigieg-democratic-presidential-primary-poll/

There is no math that has a Dem win the presidential election without massive turnout from and support from, Black voters.

Buttigieg will not get that.

For the same reason that Biden's second attempt couldn't get that.

It's a self-defeating strategy to try to run people with this record.

Iowa and New Hampshire are irrelevant for predicting the next Dem president.

Caucastrophies or caucasualties or caucuses are also nonsense.🤡

Black men are holding an Africus, and in ours we went to the corner of the room that says that we're not electing any more people with anti-Black policies.🤷🏿‍♂️

In 2019, people were surprised that I predicted the exact date of Buttigieg's stunning collapse.
🔮🧙🏿‍♂️

Becerra can probably win California without the Black vote. There aren't that many Black people in California. 🇫🇷Paris has more Black citizens per capita than California. Seriously! Look it up.🤷🏿‍♂️

Talarico might still win Texas even after what Dems did to Crockett. Hispanic self-preservation vote.🤷🏿‍♂️

But Buttigieg can't win the presidency. Neither can Rahm Emmanuel.

You can run as many polls or buy as much press as you want. Doesn't matter.

It's not going to happen.

All the fascists run to the GOP side of the see-saw. You need all the Black voters, specifically all the Black men, to counterbalance that.

And we're not going to do that for these dudes.🤷🏿‍♂️

The best that Dem presidential candidates with anti-Black track records can do, is win the Dem primary... and then lose in the general.

Then write silly and incorrect articles about how "Black men are moving towards Trump!🤡"

Dems complete this whole arc without ever having had one real conversation with any of the Black men voters that noped out.🤦🏿‍♂️

@mekkaokereke

Do you have an idea who black men WOULD vote for? Because this older white man will stand beside them as well.

mekka okereke :verified: (@[email protected])

@[email protected] Yes! Lots! Black voters are surprisingly forgiving/ optimistic! Eg: Harris. AOC. Ossoff. Ossoff is closer to the 2028 presidency than Buttigieg. He speaks with similar clarity, but adds an understanding of racial issues in the US, and a genuine empathy for Black people that cannot be faked. He doesn't just show up to the closest Black church a few weeks before the election. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AsmVfa3BvvY&t=251s

@mekkaokereke

Thank you! I'm completely disgusted by the turn away from voting rights..

I'm looking at every company I may deal with and boycotting them if they are from or have offices in those assbackwards states.,

@mekkaokereke Is there a Dem out there that Black men would vote for?

@mekkaokereke I'm not American so maybe that explains this, but I've never heard of Ossoff.

@jennifersmith

@davidnjoku @mekkaokereke @jennifersmith I seem to recall he's one who "makes good trouble" 👍.

@deborahh @davidnjoku @mekkaokereke @jennifersmith

I like Ossoff a LOT. It is hard for me to imagine white america electing a Jewish president.

@minmi @mekkaokereke Try harder to imagine it. It’s actually not a problem.

The anti-semites are almost all white evangelicals who are already in the bag for the GOP. They are easily outnumbered by a fully energized base that wants to vote for pluralistic multiracial secular democracy.

There are two groups that are reliable voters for that and the math needs both of them to be energized in the swing states. One of them is black people. The other is white non-religious people. Biden won because he had both behind him. In the swing states.

Keep running these candidates that black people and white non-religious people don’t support, and you keep losing.

@janxdevil @mekkaokereke I would love it if he ran. I would love it if he won. I am not here saying don’t put up a candidate for fear of someone else’s prejudice.

But I do think anti semitism is a deeper and broader problem than we’d like to admit, and I’m just saying I’m sad about that.

@janxdevil

Let’s run him. Let’s fight for him. Let’s face the antisemitism head on. What we can’t do is pretend the antisemitism is only a problem for the other side.

@mekkaokereke

@minmi @mekkaokereke Not pretending at all that antisemitism is exclusively a problem for the right wingers. It’s everywhere, and it can’t be allowed power in a coalition for multiracial pluralistic secular democracy. I’m just saying we shouldn’t let the antisemitic elements trying to co-opt us frighten us into thinking we can’t unite behind a Jewish candidate. We absolutely can.
@janxdevil @minmi @mekkaokereke Honest question: What do you think of Graham Platner?

@davidnjoku @mekkaokereke @jennifersmith he’s one of our Senators, representing the state of Georgia.

(I’ve only heard of him because I live in Georgia, I’d only recognize the names of a handful of senators from other states)

@mekkaokereke @gdinwiddie @jennifersmith is Ossof talking about a Presidential run? Interesting!

@mekkaokereke @jennifersmith

What do you think of Pritzker? He hasn't made it to my shit list yet.

I say Newsom will never win because he's too ready to throw the vulnerable under the bus. I'll never vote for him; he wants me dead two ways. Autistic/ disabled and I was homeless. Plus, he tried kissing trumpie's ass before going on the attack.

@mekkaokereke @jennifersmith
I co-sign every word of this thread.
@mekkaokereke @jennifersmith Georgia is lucky to have two good senators. 😎
@mekkaokereke shoot, well this was disappointing to learn about Buttigieg. Thank you for all your posts.
@mekkaokereke thanks for continuing to educate, your clarity on this is a big help to me.

@mekkaokereke i would really like it if you were wrong, but this is going to be exacty what will happen.

Handing the american psycho party(*) the win because they are as disconnected from the people as the current president from reality.

(*) using that term just because it sounds cool. I know its a thing, but i dont know/remember the subtext.

@mekkaokereke

I didn't know that about Buttigieg, thank you for your ongoing education work.

The fact that dems are pushing Newsom is disgusting.

I hate Rahm Immanuel and just seeing his name is enough to upset me. He doesn't care about basic human rights as far as I can tell.

It is so obvious that democratic leadership wants to be seen as the good guys without doing the work of power sharing with the governed instead of the fascists.

@mekkaokereke

Every single one of these dudes that wants to run for President needs to pick a state and run for Governor there first. If you haven't shown you can win a statewide election, and preferably demonstrate some executive experience.

Pete lives in Michigan now. There's a whole lot of races there he could be in but he isn't. We need way more decent state level officials than we need wannabe POTUS Superheroes.
