this one hurt
@JenYetAgain if the only fans are old fans, why did we have to endure the prequels then? makes no sense
@kolya they were made for the 20-25 year old star wars fans in 1999 who are 50 now. it's always been for the same people.
@JenYetAgain Jar Jar Binks was made for 20-25 year olds? that makes it even worse somehow.
@kolya @JenYetAgain I was there around that age and even I don't know who Jar Jar was for. Probably idiot studio execs.
@sharpcheddargoblin @JenYetAgain
I wouldn't let off George Lucas that easily. He had become old and rich and there was no one to stop him. He thought that Jar Jar shit was funny. And the dialogues between Padme and Anakin were romantic. This was his cringe fest. Not some anonymous studio exec's.
@kolya @JenYetAgain "Comic" racism is definitely his thing, yeah.

@JenYetAgain @kolya Nice try, but it's always been for the kids and continues to try and target the teen market (other than Andor and Rogue One).

Star Wars 8 even deliberately tried to bring in a younger market, only to completely forget that in 9. Just as 8 decided to largely ignore 7.

Although my vaguely divisive opinion is that Star Wars 3 is better than 6, if you assume everyone in the world is a moron.

@syllopsium @JenYetAgain @kolya

The only decent Star Wars thing since the first film is Andor (sorry!).

@davep @JenYetAgain @kolya You're surely not suggesting that Empire Strikes Back wasn't a worthy follow up? Because, well, that would definitely be an opinion.

ROTJ, yeah, I can see that, which is why I said 3>6.

I'd also say 7 wasn't actively bad but it was pretty uninspired. The others, apart from Rogue One? Meh, can leave them.

@syllopsium @JenYetAgain @kolya

It was just diminishing returns IMO.

I made the mistake of watching Rogue One just *after* Andor.

@davep @JenYetAgain @kolya yeah, I can see that. I thought Rogue One was amazing, but then I rewatched it after Andor and unfortunately the increase in quality in Andor really shows itself.

To be fair though, that's as it should be. The more recent product should be an improvement, so I think we need to give Rogue One a bit of a pass.

Not so 7,8,9 (or at least 8 and 9) where they had three chances to create a decent product and failed every time. Although I'm sure when a billion dollars are on the line product death by committee is difficult to avoid.
