Frequently Asked Questions About Cis People:

❓ What does it mean to be a cisgender?
πŸ…°οΈ Cisgender people are just like you and me, except they believe that their "assigned sex at birth" matches up with their "gender identity".

❓ How do they know they are cis?
πŸ…°οΈ Cisgender people often feel that they "know" their gender internally, many times from a very young age. They feel as if they were "born in the right body".

❓ Who would date a cisgender?
πŸ…°οΈ Though cisgender people often have a hard time finding partners, they are still able to have healthy relationships. Often, cis people date other cis people.

❓ How do they have sex?
πŸ…°οΈ Cisgender people can be very inventive with their bodies!

❓ If I have sex with a cisgender does that make me straight?
πŸ…°οΈ Assigned sex at birth and sexual orientation are two different things. Just like regular people, cisgender people can have any sexual orientation.

❓ Why don't cisgenders get counseling to learn to accept the gift of transition?
πŸ…°οΈ Counseling aimed at changing someone’s gender identity, sometimes known as "conversion therapy", doesn’t work and can actually be extremely harmful. The belief that someone's identity can be changed through therapy runs counter to the overwhelming consensus in the medical community.

❓ What medical treatments do cisgenders seek out?
πŸ…°οΈ Some, but not all cisgender people undergo medical treatments to make their bodies more congruent with their assigned sex at birth, and help them live healthier lives. Different cis people may need different types of sex affirming related care. Medical procedures can include:
- Breast enlargement
- Hair growth treatments
- Erectile enhancement drugs
- Hormone therapy
- Various surgeries to make one's face, chest, and anatomy more in line with one's assigned sex at birth

❓ But they don't even look like a cisgender!
πŸ…°οΈ Cisgender people are everywhere. They might not look how you expect! Understanding is the first step toward acceptance.

@Primavera

πŸ…°οΈ It's important to understand the plight of the poor cisgender person. Their path through life is often one filled with hardship and struggle. But we believe that all people, even cisgender people, are human beings worthy of kindness and basic human decency.

@Lana love is love I say....I may not understand their ways but I am an proud Cis Ally nevertheless.
@Primavera the cisgender community thanks you and would like to throw a parade in your honor.
@Lana finally some recognition for attending the half of the pride match that was also my way home two yrs ago

@Primavera @Lana thanks. We have very few visible allies. We mostly have to self advocate and it’s hard because no one really gives a shit. Hence no cis gender pride days.

@ChrisCorrigan @Lana sorry for your troubles πŸ™
@Lana @Primavera 🎢 nobody knows….the troubles I’ve seen 🎢
@Lana Thank you, darls. Like non-binary peeps, I never questioned my cisness. It's bloody uncomfortable being around other cis who are stupidly discriminatory, but they get binned.
Happy Pride Month!   @Primavera

πŸ…°οΈ Navigating the complexities of dating and sexual relationships as a cisgender person can be confusing. If you are a cis person entering the dating field, we suggest a policy of full prior disclosure on every date. For instance, consider saying the following before going out on any date:

- Hello, [Name of Your Date], my preferred name is "Alex" and I identify as a cisgender "man". I hope that is not a deal breaker. Looking forward to going bowling on Friday!

@Lana This is brilliant Lana, thanks for writing it! I have bookmarked it for purposes of educating others. πŸ™πŸΌ

@ApostateEnglishman

πŸ…°οΈ Education is the first step toward acceptance of our cisgender "brothers" and "sisters". They may be different from you and me, but they are no less worthy of basic human respect.

@Lana I don't believe in cisgender people, it's the straight agenda! They're forcing trans people to identify with their assigned gender, it's all mass hysteria!1!11

@Raffael1000

πŸ…°οΈ Did you know: The historical record shows examples of cisgender people existing across all cultures and time periods. In fact there are several Native American cultures which recognize two DIFFERENT cisgender sexes! And statistically speaking, if you live in a town big enough to have a fire department, you probably know at least one cisgender person. They're not as uncommon as you might think!

@Lana thank you for your work raising awareness, we appreciate your understanding
