After I’ve been struggling to motivate myself for work I’ve decided to set an end to this, make better use of my time and rather than drowning myself in guilt and pity go hiking instead. You’ll find me on Sörmlandsleden the coming weeks. Plan is to do all the 600km of the main track. We’ll see how it goes.

#sörmlandsleden

Met my friend again. Just when I left home. 💕
Home sweet home
Waiting for dinner to be ready
Sörmland’s forest art
The Two-Face of trees

Need to get past SödertĂ€lje today. Not my favorite stretch. Thus I’m treating myself with a burger at my favorite place.

The burger was fantastic. As always.

Home sweet home. It was another long day. But shorter than I thought. There’s a spot next to a recycling facility which is quite noisy but otherwise beautiful. It’s not as loud as I feared and I’ve got ear plugs.

A young(?) female(?) moose(?).

Swedish “streetart” again
Was another tough day. On the yay side, had my first bird bath and now I feel at least somewhat fresh and clean again.
Gear failure. Either my phone or my power bank is shit. Something drained all my batteries. So now I have to be very conservative. Leaving the phone off most of the day. 😒

Lucky me, not completely unexpected, found a power outlet to remedy my situation. Sort of.

Another beautiful camp spot, took another bird bath and washed my clothes.

Yesterday was rather challenging, got into hard rain and thunderstorms while being very exposed. Kept on raining until nightfall. Managed to pitch tarp and hammock nonetheless without anything getting wet. Little proud of myself. Had a fantastic spot and could watch birds all morning, after a 12 hours sleep. No pics for obvious reasons.
Dinner time
Don’t wanna leave this place. Can’t I just be lazy today and listen to birds all day?

Wolf đŸș

There’s even some pieces of bones in it. đŸ˜±

Soon! đŸ€€

Made it to Malmköping. Lady at the front desk of the camping lets me charge my power bank. đŸ„°
Lost my little blue beloved ditty bag. đŸ˜đŸ˜«đŸ€Ź

Omg, got it back *mwah*

Lost it at the campground when I left my power bank to charge.

But then I plugged in the power bank with the wrong port and now it didn’t charge at all đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïžđŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïžđŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž

Would have been too nice. I hate this new power bank!

Childhood dream?
A squirrel đŸżïž a day keeps the doctor away (sorry, no pic)

The spot with a beautiful view on the lake, but awfully exposed and it’s gusts of 10m/s right now, or the sheltered one next to the outhouse? đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

That spot (the latter) is also heavily infested by ants 🐜

All hail to hammocks!

One of my favorite places on trail, the bogs around HÀlleforsnÀs.

Plucked four ticks off of my body yesterday đŸ€Ż
All of my equipment plus myself is so full of birch pollen I think I’m slowly turning into one.

Today was mostly just clear cuts. 30km of devastation. The dark side of Sweden.

#deforestation #skogsindustrin

But I managed to take a bath and clean not just myself but also my underwear. There was a school class hogging the place with like 20 tents and one even caught me changing. đŸ«Ł
A little different camp today
Swedish country side. Like from the picture book.
And another squirrel đŸżïž
This birch tree decided to abandon its main trunk in favor of two branches. For reasons!
I love that sign.
More trail art.
Hjortron! đŸ€€
Had a wonderful swim at a lake and took a sun bath. All nekid â˜șïžđŸ«Ł. Had pizza at a gas station and recharged my phone. đŸ„ł. The designated camp site was awful so I went another 6 km to a much better place.

Breakfast with a view.

#brÄviken

Haven’t posted much lately due to the battery situation. This power bank (Flextail) is really shit.

So I made it past NĂ€vekvarn. Had a burger there and bought some 5€ Granola. đŸ€Ș (it’s very yummy though)

Now I’m in Nyköping, trying to charge my shit again. Also my feet hurt. Thus taking it slow today. Slept a fantastic 12 hours straight.

BrÄviken in this beautiful weather was just fantastic. Reminded me a bit of Gotland. Need to get back there. So I sorta decided to do a bike tour next months.
A so called jÀttegryta (pot of a giant). Ice age melt waters running under the glaciers have whirlpools that with the use of loose stones carve deep holes into the rocks.

My app suggests „wild forget-me-not“

#bloomscrolling #forgetmenot #teveronika

Last days were really exhausting. Now the weather changed, started raining early in the morning and didn’t stop yet. Decided to take the road instead of the trail. My shoes are too slippery and also because my legs are just too tired. Made it to Trosa and decided to take a bus home rather than staying at an expensive hotel. Maybe I’ll continue next week. We‘ll see. It’s just two days left
@zeank I'm pretty sure that's some kind of veronica and not a forget-me-knot (myosotis genus).
@Plantwizard my app said it‘s teveronika, which translates to Wildes Vergissmeinnicht in German. So my guess was it what be similar in English.
@zeank That's interesting. I've seen other Mastondon pictures of myosotis species labeled Vergissmeinnight but I've never seen any pictures of veronica labeled as any kind of forget-me-knot. If you compared the flowers in real life they're definitely quiet different. I think your app lead you astray.
@Plantwizard the app classified them as Veronica chamaedrys, in Swedish teveronika. That we call it wildes Vergissmeinnicht in German doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a true Vergissmeinnicht. I have a picture of actual Vergissmeinnicht some posts above.
@zeank Ok that makes sense. In English I don't think we ever call any veronica a forget-me-knot. I always though it interesting that English and German both called myositis Forget-Me-Not. Direct translations.

@Plantwizard yeah, my mistake, not a native speaker!

Btw I never posted the other one. Identified as skogsförgÀtmigej (Wald-Vergissmeinnicht):

Myosotis sylvatica agg.

#bloomscrolling

@zeank oh no, I just picked up one of those 😭
@jds well would love to hear how it works for you. Maybe I just a bad one?

@jds after a bit more testing it looks a lot like the issue is indeed low temps. And here I’m talking about ~10°C (~50°F), which I don’t consider particularly low. None of my previous power banks ever had problems with temperatures like that. With this one though it looks like it just collapses when charge drops below 25%. Since it’s marketed as an outdoor product that’s more than just a joke.

#gearFailure

@zeank that does suck. I keep all my electronics in a sack I sleep with for that reason but I agree 10C shouldn’t be near cold enough to cause that. Mine was ‘ok’ for a 3 day trip just to charge my phone 1.5 times. Not great, but about what I expected for 10k mah. It got really hot while charging my phone though. I could see it having issues in the summer maybe.
@jds it’s got two modes, while charging press the power button (twice?) to switch to “efficiency mode” and the led indicator next to the outlet will switch from green to orange. This way it will charge slower and not get that hot. They claim it will also charge your phone more often this way. German UL forum says otherwise though.

@jds And yes, of course, if it’s really cold I charge having everything inside my sleeping bag. But I was sleeping in my hammock and there this is not so easy. And I usually only needed this in the past when temps reached freezing.

They claim theirs is “cold proof” down to -10°C (10°F)

@jds complained to their customer support but they insist I send them a video documenting the behavior. đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž
@zeank Oh, NĂ€vekvarn is pretty; been a few years since I was there though.
@zeank
Thank you for sharing all these great pictures.
