@Natasha_Jay also it has very low energy consumption
@Natasha_Jay okay, but:
1. Technology can be useful if it's designed with people in mind
2. Do not mistake AI bullcrap for a low-cost SBC that could index a "library" like this easily if the software was properly optimized

That's it, that's my rant
@Natasha_Jay I support this kind: https://annas-archive.gd/ (that and my ebook reader...)
Anna’s Archive: LibGen (Library Genesis), Sci-Hub, Z-Library in one place - Anna’s Archive

The world’s largest open-source open-data library. Mirrors Sci-Hub, Library Genesis, Z-Library, and more.

@Natasha_Jay its only sad that this storage knows data corruption to. Must done by humans.
@Natasha_Jay
I support two different data center organizations with my membership fees
@Natasha_Jay ... and the search engine has two eyes and can use text and audio for input/output. Also doesn't hallucinate.

@Natasha_Jay
Library (noun): A place where knowledge is treated as a public good and is made accessable to anyone for a small price or completely for free.

Because information shouldn't be capitalized by a select few while using up large amounts of ressources, destroying the environment and make everyone dumb at the same time.

@Natasha_Jay Just the smell of an open book makes my heart melt!

@Natasha_Jay I dream of a world where the local libraries are available online.

The list of books I'd like to read that cost hundreds of pounds and live in educational ivory towers plebs can't access is fucking grim.

Free the knowledge, stuff it in the cloud and make it grep'able.

@Natasha_Jay

Can you imagine the paradise if they were intending to spend $2T on libraries over the next 5 years?

@johnzajac @Natasha_Jay the effect on that would be amazing, but they wouldn’t. Their goal is not the common good but the selfish gain of billionaires who have already exploited enough.

@bubacarrsowe @Natasha_Jay

I mean, we'd have to eat them and take their money first, obv

@Natasha_Jay can it store my 15tb of furry porn archive tho?
@Natasha_Jay
My wife, is a library volunteer.
I asked her if she knew about the data center in our little town. Then I showed her the library books pic.
So much fun for me. :)

@Natasha_Jay

today we call it "a USB key, almost empty".

@Natasha_Jay low density and slow access time, but it has a certain charm :P

@Natasha_Jay

This picture is about the size of the 621. Applied Physics section in the town I grew up. I rode my bicycle there every chance I could get and read every one of those books. I would get an engineering degree.

Books are my quality of life.
