A quote from his brother:
"I want him to be remembered for what he does. Innocent heart, fighter's soul. Warrior. And I'd just like to say he fought [the] bear. That's all … bear didn't attack him. He attacked the bear."
This was covered in the very instructional "Dumb Ways to Die".

The man killed in a rare fatal bear attack in northern Saskatchewan on May 8 wanted to be an MMA fighter. Originally from Kerala, India, Hrishikesh Koloth, 27, was working at a uranium exploration site in northern Saskatchewan when he was attacked by the bear.

And yet people still wonder why we women choose the bear.
Hilarious. My suburban ass faced down a bear once. Turns out to be fairly easy. Bears are smart. If you can communicate with a dog or cat, you can communicate with a bear. I'll bet you anything this guy got aggro and tried to intimidate the bear, but the bear was having none of that nonsense.
According to the book "A Walk in the Woods", before Europeans showed up with guns, American bears treated us as slow-moving deer. They do learn from their parents and bears soon learned that those slow deer are dangerous. These days, at least my bear didn't want to fight any more than I did.
Stupid aggro fucks. Toxic masculinity taken to its obvious and inevitable conclusion.
