A shadowy group that stole and dumped the NSA’s most powerful hacking tools still has implications for how companies think about digital risk today.

Their singular interview to the press is... odd.

The only publicly known suspect is Harold Thomas Martin III, who pled guilty to unlawfully retaining classified documents. According to Wikipedia, he was initially suspected to be involved in Shadow Brokers.
However, Shadow Brokers' account continued posting while he was detained, and there doesn't seem to be any evidence he ever did anything with any of the data he stole. Instead, it seems he horded the data due to mental health issues.

Who knows, maybe someone will confess to it on their deathbed, or some future Russian government will admit responsibility and issue a mea culpa.
Stranger things have happened.
