herz (🥕){🐇}There's been a wave of spam accounts trying to join FurryEngineer a few weeks ago, so I'm going through recent joins in PawbFun and FurryEngineer just to be sure.
Right, I have furry instance admins and mods following me.
Remember to check for accounts from this month that were not approved by any of you and were invited instead, especially if it uses some hella weird email domain that you've never seen before like picdirect dot net or di0hh2l dot jejes dot de, and usually with some grammatical but nonsensical bio.
They act by surreptitiously inviting a few spambots every few randomized non-rounded hours, and the inviter is seemingly furry. It's easy to miss because Mastodon has no mod interface for filtering only invited users.
Having to keep a bookmark for verifymail dot io just for when I have to check account joins in both instances. Apparently all of these weird emails are disposable and marked as unsafe.
Luna Lactea@herzenschein A way to show accounts that have recently created lots of invitations that have been accepted might be a good feature request to make. It would highlight accounts that are likely being used for this purpose & all accounts created with their invitations.
