Perhaps my last time on the #wien #cat #CityAirportTrain . I’ve long loved it, but got ripped off the most recent time I trusted it — 2 hour bus at 1am, or an Uber that then got played into a taxi in a scam #viennaairport should be ashamed of (I reported it) and wound up costing €72 though at least we split that with another similarly affected party. It turns out the S7 runs 24/7 and takes 25 minutes, so I’ll be figuring that out when I get back from #aamas #aamas2026 . It’s been fun, CAT!

Personally, I was ready to just grab a cab in the first place, but the other party we met really cared about the €20 / 2 the Uber should have saved them. :-(

And of course @conjugateprior
and I both hate scams so were super offended when we couldn’t help them. But it was 2am by then.

I was going to say one time you don’t mind a little extra security is the first time in your life you are knowingly flying into a war zone. I was thinking that, but then saw a helicopter flying slowly over the runways in Vienna which did not seem so good as the extra id checks did. Anyway, this airport is right next to one of Europe’s bigger refineries near Ukraine so … I guess there must be a lot of drone protection already?

@j2bryson @conjugateprior Yes, always take the S7 if possible. 👍
@j2bryson Only tourists that don't know any better take the CAT. The S7 is the way to go :)
@graves501 the best thing about the cat is if you have heavy luggage you can check it right at the station. When I used to take it iirc the wifi was a considerable win, but of course now we all have hotspots.
