@Wraithe LLM is a drunken story of the past
@Wraithe Same with planning. All based on the past.
@Wraithe In a similar vein I would say art is about looking within while AI doesn't HAVE anything to really look within except data.
@Wraithe
Is that bbeattie person an "AI" fan, possibly?
@musevg @Wraithe why would they be? I'm reading their post as a criticism of GenAI and its branding.

@orange_lux
Poe's law. Was completely unsure how to read that last sentence.

@Wraithe

@musevg @orange_lux yeah that’s understandable, both posts are critical of “AI” as “creators”, as I read them.
@Wraithe My most optimistic hope for AI is that it is a way to reproduce past solutions and approaches, making it easier for humans to focus on the creative and explorative part of their work.
@alpacamale @Wraithe I fear that's a naive point of view as all the usages of GenAI are made to remove human processes in the creative field.
@Wraithe ironically Hans Zimmer took mountains of guff in the 80s as he pioneered MIDI studio and synth/sample work. He was criticized for not really making music.
@fuzztech yeah I’m not surprised by that. I was dating a girl in the 80s who was very firmly in the “Iron Maiden started sucking when they started using synthesizers” camp, so I remember those battles lol.

I heard an interview today about AI in creative spaces and the man being interviewed said “AI is data, and Data can only look backwards. Creativity looks forwards.” And I need to sit with that in the best possible way.

@Wraithe As much as I agree with Zimmer, it's a bit ironic coming from a guy who has build his career on recycling the standards of classical music from the past 200 years.

@bewitchedmind

Hans Zimmer Doesn’t Want to Hear About A.I. Music

“I would never write a piece of music using A.I. to help me because I want it to be my piece,” said the Oscar-winning composer.
