Also captured in yesterdays bird photoshoot, this cockatoo with unsettlingly good model pose

@joannaholman and CBD Flinders Lane :)
@siftinsand I’ve seen little corellas in the city occasionally but don’t think I’ve seen any of these. Will have to look more closely
@joannaholman You're probably right about the long billed corellas, I've definitely seen sulphur crested cockies
@joannaholman Jerk Birds, my favourite 💝
@joannaholman
All hail the mighty Corella:
“People’s yachts, they love to sit on them and gnaw at the sails.”

‘They poo all over the yard’: little corellas are terrorising Kangaroo Island – and nothing can stop them

The birds – not native to the South Australian island – have covered a school in faeces, torn up infrastructure and damaged crops

The Guardian
@joannaholman I love how the long-billed Corellas look - at a glance - to be splashed with the blood of their latest victim.
@bencourtice thankfully it was just the contents of someone’s olive tree
@bencourtice @joannaholman seriously, they could crack open a beer with that thing
@angusgibbins @joannaholman having been biitten by small parrots, I would not chance it with a cockatoo (and I wouldn't give them beer, they are boisterous enough sober)
@bencourtice @angusgibbins I occasionally see people in other countries on social media with Australian parrots (lorikeets, corellas, cockatoos) as pets and I’m always like I know they’re cute but why on earth would you let a chaos agent that makes that much noise and mess in your house?

@joannaholman @bencourtice i’ve got a cockatiel. But it was a case of needed a home rather than me seeking a pet (she weirdly wasn’t interested in socialising with other parrots in the aviary she was in, pretty sure she was a runt of the litter as well).

I love her and it’s been a rewarding experience, but I’m so done with pets when it comes her time to cross the rainbow road.

@joannaholman @bencourtice Also, can confirm, parrots are messy, boisterous, moody, emotional little things. Imagine having a kitten, puppy and toddler wrapped up in one small bundle
@bencourtice @joannaholman i’ve been bitten by a sulphur crested cockatoo. Can confirm they’ve got a strong bite.
getting stuck into the Olives, very Melbourne.
@joannaholman great photos of The Bastards
@joannaholman 😂 they really are!!
@joannaholman long billed Corellas are my favourite. You could crack open a beer with that thing.
