Well, the next step on my #fibromyalgia journey is to start taking 100mg of gabapentin before bed, which is also the amount that I give to my cat every day. So now my cats and I are on SSRIs, gabepentin and Zyrtec together. You know what they say, don’t give anything to your cats you wouldn’t eat yourself???
@irene hoping gaba works kindly for you! Give your cat a scritch scratch and a purr purr from me!

@MamaLake @irene
Ditto on both.

I'm surprised a vet would prescribe the same amount for a cat, just given how much lighter they are.

Maybe it's just high all the time now. 🙂

@dougmerritt @MamaLake my theory is that it’s because he doesn’t need to operate heavy machinery

@irene In our home, we were first introduced to gabapentin as "the thing we have to give our cat before taking her to the vet lest her anxiety spike and she destroy another veterinary assistant." Only years later did we learn it is also a human medicine.

This has led to conversations like this:

Spouse: Can you hand me my gabapentin?
Self: Your what?
Spouse: My gabapentin. That bottle of pills right there. I need to take one.
Self: (no response, looks confused)
Spouse: *sigh* Can you hand me my cat tranquilizers?
Self: Here you go.

@qning lol this makes sense. I also knew it as a cat medicine until I broke my leg and was prescribed it post surgery. I suppose now I’m also taking cat antidepressants and cat antihistimines.
