This episode was totally screen-recorded and I had no issues with OBS+Wayland+Plasma+Krita. The full process was also commented (audio recording) and it's from A to Z: from scratch to posting. The scenario in Kate, to the panel making, text, everything fully in Krita 5.3 with the new text tool and comic panel tool.
Now I have over 20 hours of video editing to do in Kdenlive; many sequence will be accelerated as time-lapse. ETA of this big tutorial bonus: maybe start of june.
@davidrevoy wow, good luck with this undertaking!
@davidrevoy wonderfull 🙂 reeeeeally looking forward for when you'll publish your new Linux setup ❤️
@lazyerv This one is planned on Friday!  I have the full text done, but now I need to add all the screenshots and insert photos.
@davidrevoy Also fan of KDE Plasma and KDEnlive, but still running older Kubuntu with X11. Good to hear there is probably no need to fear of the upgrade incl. Wayland...

@davidrevoy Did you do the commenting while you drew, or as a second pass?

I use OBS with multi-cameras, multi-screens and a macro pad to switch between them, and a HUION tablet. But for remote electrical engineering design work. I use xfce/xubuntu with X11.

I don't see any value in moving to Wayland for my setup. Once I see the killer feature, maybe (doubtful). Or once it becomes painful to stay in X11.

@poleguy I do both: a bit while drawing (esp. when I show how to activate something in the GUI) ; or to explain the next step. Then, I go silent or listen to my music for the next 4h, knowing I'll timelapse this part) or I took note on a markdown document to write post-audio recording voice over of what to explain during a timelapse.

I'll publish an article this week about my setup, and a list of "Notable Improvements". But if your setup works, I hope you'll be able to keep it for a long time.

@davidrevoy This is amazing. Can’t wait to see it and know your experience with Wayland. I tired Fedora 44 this week and although it went well I couldn’t do color calibration on my displays (probably my fault)

Also with Nvidia cards there is some lag when painting. Not sure if it’s due to Lrita being on XWayland or what.

@Juankprada I see, could be the Nvidia card/drivers. I blocklisted Nvidia almost a decade ago, so my article will have a clear blind angle on that part. I tested the setup only on two machine: my full AMD workstation and on laptop with a Intel GPU.
I'll publish it tomorrow, probably many things I reported on it (for KDE Neon User Edition) should work on other distro, as I also have this time more Flatpak around, and tips related to KDE Plasma latest (but over a 24.04LTS 'old' base).
@davidrevoy I should have done the same and stick to intel/amd. I think when I bought that laptop I still had nightmares of AMD issues back in the early days 😅😭
@Juankprada True! AMD for a long time was the real nightmare (got almost PTSD from keywords like Gallium, RadeonSI, Glamor or AMDGPU-PRO) 😅

@davidrevoy Amazing! File sizes of the are (mostly) much smaller than I thought they would be, what size / FPS do you use for recording?

I should probably start doing that again as well, time lapses are so much fun!

@johns Oh! This scene from Merlin. I need to rewatch, certainly it somehow was printed in my memory/subconscious; to draw humanized fish with "the small and the big one" type of compo. Thanks for the link!
@davidrevoy Every product nowadays be like
@fredy_pferdi hehe, Game teaser at E3 versus day 1 game release. 😆
@davidrevoy @fredy_pferdi Yeah, or slop product announcement vs reality of that product.
@davidrevoy The clam in the final panel doesn't know how to process this lol
@davidrevoy to be fair, he did say he didn't want to swim
@davidrevoy 😂😂😂 I truly didn’t expect that
@davidrevoy And that's how we got Freddi Fish and Luthor!
@davidrevoy Feels like you could do a whole series with caveat emptor portions :)
@davidrevoy Well well - at least I'm not Spongebob
@davidrevoy
if there is a hidden cave behind a waterfall: - so typical
if there isn't: - hey where's the cave
@conchoid True, and valid in many games 😆
@davidrevoy Weirdly accurate relationship dynamic I have with the spouse.
@davidrevoy What an amazing process! I’m forever in awe with people who can draw/paint. It genuinely feels like magic to me
@farah @davidrevoy I personally know several people who are fantastic artists and draw, paint, or fabricate artifacts and some who sculpt and some tattoo artists and they are all amazing. But amazing as they are. Nobody makes cartoons anything like this guy. This stuff is magic about magic. 😁 I can never get too much of it.
@wbpeckham @farah  Thank you so much meh and William!

@davidrevoy Just keep swimming, grumpy gills! Just keep swimming... Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...

(Though I think the reference others made in the comments is more culturally relevant.  )

The fairy turning into a flying fish, A+ good choice.

@davidrevoy She's obviously been in touch with the wizard out of the "Sword in the Stone".
@davidrevoy I also hate doing that in MMOs
@mhunt Oh yes, same about the obligatory underwater sequence in MMO with timed oxygen limit and poor controls under water or too dark visual...
@davidrevoy @mhunt
One good thing about guild wars 2 is that your characters are provided with an underwater breather right from the start
@davidrevoy after the first frame I was kind of expecting it to be a joke about the recurring truth, that whenever people fall into a river, they ALWAYS end up facing a waterfall.
@mohs Could have been a good one! Yes, the Inevitable Waterfall trope https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InevitableWaterfall , I could have also work on the https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CaveBehindTheFalls 🤣
Inevitable Waterfall - TV Tropes

If the characters are rafting, swimming, or just floating down a river, then they will either go over a waterfall or narrowly avoid going over a waterfall. Always. No exceptions. You could take it to the bank.note  But you actually can't, …

TV Tropes

@davidrevoy That may look fun, but actually problems of Url and Pixie only begin there (°_°)

Did they turned into fishes and left all their clothes on ground?
How they will acces the cave if it is behind the waterfall but not under water?
What if they will turn into human and pixie in the cave with all things left on coast?
Will they even be able to pass under the waterfall or be unable to swim against its strong current?
What if they will meet fish predators?

What will Url and Pixie do...
