Guess what arrived to me straight from Silly Studios

The package itself was slightly damaged, but luckily books themselves are perfectly fine.

I can't wait to read the whole series again and possibly share it with my friends

Thanks
@davidrevoy and Silly Studios for your hard work ❤️
@davidrevoy ...also I love the smell of paint <3 mmm fresh comic books!
@szkodnix Same! Got mine yesterday at the end of afternoon. I really love the compact hardcover thick format. A beautiful pack! And good they kept their promise for the Artbook and the hardcover upgrade.
Thank you for taking them!
@davidrevoy I thank YOU for having the opportunity to have them, David We are those who should thank you.

@szkodnix @davidrevoy Got the same package, and also really happy about it <3.

(You’ll pry the collector English 3rd volume with its Italian side from my dead hands, I’m keeping it).

@Sobex @szkodnix Thank you for taking them! 💜 He he, same, I even didn't notice it until I received a DM of the publisher who really felt super bad about it; he told me he sent a general message to the Kickstarter and felt he ruined the batch by this mistake that went under their radar.
I told him and to the graphist to not worry and blame themselves that hard, I find it fun and "collector" too and haven't even noticed it at first. 😅 Really a minor typo, and a fun "made in Italy" souvenir.

@davidrevoy @szkodnix Btw, was the tavern that last episode of Pepper and Carrot, or do you have more in the pipeline ?

(Also Pepper & Carrot has not been printed in French, right ?)

@Sobex @szkodnix It is printed in French since ten years now, search for "Pepper et Carrot, edition Glénat". But they never did the Artbook.

About the "Episode 39: The tavern", no, it's not the last episode, I'm continuing, surely but slowly. It's frustrating because I spent the past month on many Yak Shaving (operating system, Krita release and videos, improving MiniFantasyTheater, etc... ).
I'm right now at the Layout step of the episode 40. I'll try to make a post on the blog about it!

@davidrevoy @szkodnix Ohhhh, my wallet is trying to hide under a piece of furniture, I wonder why.

More seriously, from a Traduttore Traditore perspective which language is the best to read Piper Carotaque in ? (French, English, or Latin ?)

@Sobex @szkodnix 😆 Poor wallet!

In my opinion, it's the English version: I wrote many episodes in English, or with the English version in mind. To the point of where I wrote them in French (it happened too during a long period) the changes that happened in the English version immediately translated during the proofreading process were all backported to the French later (before opening to other languages on the repo). Almost all 69 translations on the website derivate from the English one too.

@davidrevoy i was a bit taken aback by the amount of self-recrimination. :)

It's a mistake. It happens. And yes, "collector edition!" came to my mind also (even though I don't plan on parting with these books any time soon). :)

@Sobex @szkodnix

@jenesuispasgoth @davidrevoy @szkodnix
I wonder if a sticker could be made to fix the mistake at a lower cost than a reprint.

Anyway, this suggest we should just go back to having a single edition, in Latin.

Piper Carotaque: Liber III Regina Qualiurbis

@Sobex @jenesuispasgoth @szkodnix Piper & Carota in Latin is a thing! https://www.peppercarrot.com/la/webcomic/ep03_The-secret-ingredients.html

Yes, I also read the post on Kickstarter; they really blame themselves too hard for that. 😅

Episodium III : Arcana pars potionis - Pepper&Carrot

Official homepage of Pepper&Carrot, a free(libre) and open-source webcomic about Pepper, a young witch and her cat, Carrot. They live in a fantasy universe of potions, magic, and creatures.

Pepper&Carrot

@davidrevoy @jenesuispasgoth @szkodnix Hmm, "Ave Domine" that doesn't sound quite right, if I remember my reading of https://acoup.blog/2022/04/15/collections-expeditions-rome-and-the-perils-of-verisimilitude/ (Domine is very strong, only used for a slave's master (or for the emperor, Diocletian onwards).

But that's still awesome !
(Sadly I am not a classicist, so I wouldn't be able to actually submit traduction improvements. I still think there's a missed opportunity by using & instead of -que)

Collections: Expeditions: Rome and the Perils of Verisimilitude

This week we’re going to take a long look at Expeditions: Rome, a turn-based tactics RPG by developer Logic Artists, set in the first century BC Late Roman Republic. In particular, we’r…

A Collection of Unmitigated Pedantry
@szkodnix @davidrevoy Hang on, this is a thing?! Can I buy it in my own language, or is it only available in English?
@bloodaxe @szkodnix It depends; not all languages translated online where published in their countries, you can find:
- French by Glénat
- Nowegian Nynorsk by Outland Forlag
- English (self published print on demand drivethrucomics)
- Italian by Silly Studio
- English by Silly Studio
- German by Ondrej Brinkel
- Bulgarian by Prikazka-Igra
- Brezhoheg by Ar Gripi
... and Occitan, and probably other smaller publishing derivation.

@szkodnix @davidrevoy

Sweet! I got the collectors edition with the SPECIAL spine.

(and a damaged box, but the books seem ok).

#pepper #carrot #linux

@hardaker @szkodnix Thank you Wes for taking the pack! 💜
@davidrevoy @hardaker I might have considered that pack myself...

Damn! Now I'm a bit jelly. Still a regular one is cool as well

@szkodnix @davidrevoy

Hopefully will get mine soon in Finland!

@szkodnix @davidrevoy wow, yours are there already? Mine are still in Milano…
