Stitches and Cream sock club for April, fraternal (or sororal?) low contrast colourwork socks inspired by the coast of Cornwall.

Love the yarn (John Arbon), love the colours, love me a 4-stitch repeat! I changed the heel and toe just to be difficult. I’m putting this on as soon as the cat allows it ;)

@venite these look really cozy, and your assistant/model is very helpful
@bomkatt the helpfullest! He tried to protect me by biting the evil magic loop cable 2864 times
@venite my assistant likes to throw himself on the yarn. He also enjoys biting it to add kitty drool and love
@bomkatt always a great improvement. Are we even worthy
@venite no, but providing additional kibbles would go a long way toward improving our worthiness
@venite It's the cozy picture of the day.
@venite These are gorgeous! (And exactly why I wanted to learn to knit in the first place).
@PatsyBaloney thank you! Have you done colourwork socks yet?
@venite Nope. I've only used self-striping, and tonal yarns. But these low-contrast colours you used are just the inspiration I've needed to nudge me into the (intimidating ☺️) world of colourwork socks.
@PatsyBaloney it’s ok!! Colourwork socks can be annoying because they need to fit over your heel. But there are tricks for that and a good pattern will help you with it. These ones are unfortunately club only for a couple of months at least but you could try these in a low contrast for example (if you use ravelry). https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/on-the-fence
On the fence pattern by Anna Lange

There are many things I’m on the fence about: Contrasting cuffs, heels and toes on a socks, for example. They always tend to look scrappy, as if you ran out of yarn to do a complete pair of socks. But with just a tiny but of colourwork for the transition, it really looks beautiful, don’t you agree? These almost vanilla socks work up very quickly, but add that tiny bit of interest to keep you motivated and make it all look coherent and intentional.

Ravelry

@venite Oh, Anna! These are stunning. The pattern, the colours...just perfect. I love colour and intricate, busy patterns as much as anyone, but for myself I'm definitely a less-is-more gal. Thank you for sharing this. Yep, I use ravelry, and as soon as I finish this thank-you, I'm heading over to download.

Thanks, again, Anna!

@PatsyBaloney this is by a different Anna, but I definitely rep the Anna club ;) (speaking of which, @annaplexis has great tutorials). Very glad you like the pattern and definitely show us how you get on!
@venite Yes, @annaplexis is great! You Annas are all awesome, no matter which one you are. 😄 Thanks, again.
