Acting AG #Blanche "doesn’t rule out considering payments for violent Jan. 6 rioters as he defends $1.8B fund"

...so I suppose that also means the "protestors" who attacked the Capitol police officers, since #Vance also didn't rule that out when recently asked (see the second link).

Blanche faces scrutiny over a nearly $1.8B fund to repay Trump allies

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has not ruled out the possibility of compensating individuals involved in violence during the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot from a new $1.776 billion fund. During a Congressional hearing on Tuesday, Blanche stated that anyone who believes they were politically targeted can apply for the “Anti-Weaponization Fund.” The fund, announced Monday, aims to compensate those mistreated by previous administrations' Justice Departments. Blanche emphasized that the fund is not limited to any political party or specific individuals. Some Democrats have criticized the fund as an abuse of power, while some Republicans have expressed discomfort with it.

More than 140 police officers were injured during the fighting on Jan. 6, which turned increasingly brutal as the hours wore on.

Perhaps some Proud Boy rioters will get some of Trump's slush fund money too...

They are suing the Capitol police for being "pelted with pepper balls and afflicted by chemical spray" while trying to force their way into the Capitol building with the angry, violent mob.

About that lawsuit —

"Aquilino Gonell, who retired from the Capitol Police after sustaining injuries on Jan. 6 said the litigation was 'shockingly unsurprising.'

"'It took them long enough since they have seen other insurrectionists being rewarded with government jobs, settlements and praises for their violent attempt to overthrow our democracy and elevating them as heroes and villains at the same time.'"

About Trump's blanket pardon for violent #Jan6 rioters at the US Capitol —

Then Deputy AG Blanche called it "evidence of the president’s commitment to his base" (😐) when speaking at last year's annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) conference.

"The audience included a slew of beneficiaries of that pardon, including Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, who was freed by #Trump from a 22-year sentence...related to his role in the riot."

Wow - the video in the previous post's article 👀😱

No wonder Trump et al. acted to defund #NPR & #PBS.

#ICYMI - A federal judge ruled earlier this year that #Trump's order violated the 1st Amendment & issued a permanent injunction that executive branch agencies can't enforce it.

Sadly, though, the damage was already done as Congress rescinded the entire #CPB budget for 2026 & 2027, and the CPB "voted to dissolve itself" in Jan 2026 😔
