This is one of those go-buy-all-your-plants-again nights for people who planted stuff in the ground early.

#gardening

Hope everyone's seedlings and garden-ready plants survived alright in our area overnight. It was chilly, but with a cover or good luck you were probably okay.

Our tender, under-achieving seedlings are in a plastic-tented shelf mini greenhouse thing, against the wall of our house, with some thermal mass (bricks) in there with them, so they seemed to weather the crisp temps okay.

Another chilly night Thursday, then maybe out of the woods?

@ottaross It's cold as a witch's proverbial in northern Scotland right now. Have the heat on!
@LillyHerself we're usually safe from frost after the 24th of May you night recall. Sounds like we're both on a different track this year.
@ottaross I remember snow in June once when I was a child... ❄️
@ottaross time for this meme LOL (it almost got me this year because TX dropped below 40 in April IIRC this year

@ottaross everything's still indoors under growlamps but they're all running out of vertical space. If the weather doesn't improve soon I'm going to need to reconfigure these shelves.

@ellie sounds like a healthy batch!
@ottaross this year's been the best seedling start of my life
@ellie nice! Mine are languishing a bit but I think they'll make it into the ground eventually. Started more than we need so hopefully the losses will still leave me with enough.
@ottaross I find covering things with that non woven cloth for plants helps on the occasional frosty night. Lot of extra work though.

@LillyHerself Ugh, I remember being sent out by my mom as a kid to cover the plants in the evening. How I hated that chore. lol
@ottaross It's uncovering them the next day, (when they're often soggy wet) that I hate! And finding somewhere to put them till they dry out.
