@Jess.Stetson @PHenderson57 We just saw “Sheep Detectives” too! Very sweet and made us unexpectedly weepy. But my wife felt it was different from the novel she had read a while ago — she couldn’t remember the plot specifics and looked it up, and it turns out the book was WAY darker, with different characters, reason for death, etc.

I had ZERO idea it was from a book. I'll admit that that ONE SCENE had me like "Oh no they did not just..." — like I was honestly shooketh! So it wasn't a kid's book? Or it was an old school kid's book or what?

@Jess.Stetson The filmmakers must have said, “Okay, talking animals = families will bring kids to this = we have to change everything around.”😅

Though for something that’s had some of its less kid-friendly edges sanded down, it still made potent thematic points about death and belonging. Still good, just very different from the source!
