It’s always been an easy trip through #PDX, but this renovation has been amazing to watch progress. I hope more regionals can see the impact that renewable materials + local artists + acknowledging the history can make when folks first arrive in your town. #ibpa #portland
@tsutrav Are you attending PubU? Curious to hear how it goes.
@glecharles two groups in town this week. I’ll attend some of PubU as well as meetings with a small publisher co-op group we’re a part of. Hoping for lots of talks around real solutions and not just what’s buzzy. We’ll see.
@glecharles I attended the PubU ThinkTank and then came on home. Lots of concerns over AI (slop titles flooding online stores as well as production folks worried about jobs), lots of conversations around freight (fuel costs, tariffs, etc.). Had some good convos around “time to market” for new books. I’m coming from #PubWest and this event had so many more non-publishers (printers, freelancers, artists, etc.) than from before the merger. Totally different vibe than PubWest. Interesting. #ibpa
@tsutrav That's encouraging. I really liked PubWest in 2020 and was curious how the merger would play out; sounds like IBPA is doing a good job of threading the needle, creating clear lanes for their two primary groups while being as inclusive as possible. You planning to write it up?
@glecharles I'll have to go through my notes and see if I have anything to offer other than vibes. I am anxious to hear from folks who stayed through the weekend for all the events.
@tsutrav IBPA 2026: The vibes were good. That's a worthwhile post for people like me who weren't there! 😁
