There are lies, there are damned lies, and then there's "Don't Be Evil".

Google is out here just continuing to break the web, but because a de-Googled phone is, put it mildly, "not the norm", most people on Android phones (i.e. stock Android) are likely not gonna raise a fuss about this. But we should.

Fuck Google and their destruction of the web as we know it.

@lambdacalculus Every time I see or hear about someone relying on a Google service, I get the cold shivers. They have such a history of just fucking off, blowing shit up, and not caring about the end user that I cannot understand putting any trust in them.

Like, especially when I hear someone say "Oh, I'm writing my book using Google Docs," I just wanna grab them, look them in the eyes, and say "No. Stop that."

@cyberpunklibrarian Remind them of this handy dandy list:

Killed by Google

Killed by Google is the open source list of dead Google products, services, and devices. It serves as a tribute and memorial of beloved services and products killed by Google.

Killed by Google
@lambdacalculus @cyberpunklibrarian I still think of this as the betrayal that broke a generation of nerds. Everyone recommended Google everything to friends and family for years and now we spend so much energy trying to stay away from them.
@lambdacalculus is there an easy recaptcha enabled site to test against? I never thought "not enough captchas" would be my problem but...
@lambdacalculus Yet more residue of 40+ years of failing to enforce anti-trust.
Hell I'm down with breaking up or nationalizing all of big tech at this point.
@BustaMarx Never forget when the DOJ failed to break up the Microslop monopoly and merely gave them a slap on the wrist.
@lambdacalculus And again with Google's conviction just last year. "Yes they're guilty but we ain't gonna do shit about it."
@lambdacalculus Any idea how we do an anti-trust lawsuit. Cause this seems like a pretty good cause for action.
