I've been vaguely aware that the is a Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad museum (note: Nevada County is in California) for a long time, but never been.
I'd heard that it was associated with a hotel, and figured maybe they just had a loop of track around there property.
I was in the area, picking up my kid from a #UnitarianUniversalist youth thing, and stopped by to check it out. It's not huge but it has legit train ride through the woods and some interesting equipment, like this #NarrowGauge #Railbus (maybe not quite big enough to count as a #Doodlebug but I'm going to use the hashtags because doodlebug fans will like it anyway). Every 2nd Sunday of the month is a Steamup Sunday, which was today, but alas I only had time to take pictures.
Here's their website. https://ncngrrmuseum.org/
I have no idea what happens at a #UnitarianUniversalist youth meetup. This is a church that let's you figure things out yourself anyway, and these events are organized by the kids themselves, so who knows?
I asked my son once what they talked about, and he said "sex, drugs, and public transportation", which I think shows that more UU's should be on the Fediverse.
Right now he's home and taking a nap to make up for two nights of minimal sleep.
@14mission I used to attend the UU in San Jose. lol it was easier to get to by public transit than the one closer to me in Hayward. (no church in Fremont at the time)
@MsMerope Hmm, didn't know about the one in Hayward.
The youth group is always looking for new recruits.
