Swarm knowledge needed because I'm completely at a loss: Since around a month or so, my #Fedora #Framework16 with dGPU, when doing certain, heavy GPU load, around every 5 minutes goes into a mode for approx. 2 minutes where
- FPS drop to around 0.1
- Sound stutters extremely
- Everything lags
- GPU utilization drops to near zero
- CPU utilization spikes to 100%, while CPU Temp goes down a lot.

This happens in games I did not have issues with prior, and no meaningful logs are shown anywhere.

Examples of games that showed this behavior so far are
- Digital Combat Simulator
- Going Medieval

Both are Windows Games running via Wine.
I tried with different Wine versions without any discernible difference

@DJGummikuh For testing if it is a thermal limit/problem i would try to set the games to a low max fps.

@danielkrah what is interesting is that by all measures, temperature DROPS dramatically during these times.By gut feeling I'd say that the SSD controller crashes out, leaving everything to wait for IO, but I'd also expect something to show up in dmesg or logs in this case

With dram they are more expensive.
But then they don't struggle when they have to transfer a huge ammount data over a long period.

@danielkrah yeah though I just quickly read up and that's a feature predominantly improving WRITING, which is something games shouldn't need

@danielkrah during the occurrences I see a lot of btrfs workers showing up in iotop. What's interesting, though, is that the only partition I have in BTRFS is my encrypted root partition on the DRAM-enabled SSD - which is not where the game runs on.

@danielkrah you can see the cliff pretty nice in this screenshot. As you can also see there is no significant SSD traffic on either of my drives
