#ListeningClub Enjoying the didgeridoo. The only album I have with didgeridoo is by a band called Lights in a Fat City which this is definitely not because reasons.

@soundclamp I saw a didgeridoo on stage last year - Levellers.

(One of my neighbours also plays didgeridoo, although not to the same standard, unless he's improved a lot in the last few years.)

@SimonLandmine #ListeningClub Levellers! Now that’s a band I haven’t in a loooong time.
@soundclamp @SimonLandmine they seem to be constantly touring, i'm seeing them in Bristol later this year :) #listeningClub
@spiny @SimonLandmine #ListeningClub Here in the States it’s like Levellers who?

@soundclamp @spiny Yeah, can't say I'm entirely surprised by that! Not sure their style of crusty folk would travel too well.

#ListeningClub

@SimonLandmine @soundclamp @spiny ...so Fairport without the bits of pop sheen? Inquiring ears want to know... #listeningClub

@vinomadic @soundclamp @spiny Not really. I'll chuck some links your way in a bit.

So, here's the Levellers' YouTube channel ...
https://www.youtube.com/user/Levellers

Possibly their breakthrough hit was "One Way" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0S8RNkL5Wg (damn, they look young there!)

Other good early stuff included "Riverflow" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1-oI3ECI1Q

Later material went slightly more dance-influenced. They were one of the major early-mid-90s 'crusty' bands of student and green protest.

@vinomadic @soundclamp @spiny Early Leveller fan look - Plastic bottle of cider, unlaced combat boots, patchwork waistcoat over long-sleeve Levellers t-shirt, and a dog on a rope. Juggling balls often an additional item.
@SimonLandmine @soundclamp @spiny ...I can dig it all, but...*unlaced* boots?? #listeningClub
@vinomadic @soundclamp @spiny Made them a lot easier to kick off when you'd walked across a muddy field to get to the converted van you were sleeping in.
(OK, sometimes half-laced, but rarely tightly knotted.)
@SimonLandmine @vinomadic @soundclamp @spiny
Ha! The mud where I’m from would suck those unlaced boots off your feet in two steps…
#ListeningClub
@iamwahl @vinomadic @soundclamp @spiny That did also happen, I believe ... 🙂
@vinomadic @soundclamp @spiny While this is what they sounded like with some polish from a slightly later album ...

@SimonLandmine @vinomadic @spiny #ListeningClub Yes, One Way is the song I remember.
@soundclamp @SimonLandmine @vinomadic the b-side to that was their cover of 'devil went down to georgia' which became so popular at the live shows, thats what they play as the last track (or they have on the many times i've seen them :) ) probably some live footage on youtube #listeningClub

@spiny @soundclamp @vinomadic Yeah, that's a fine cover, I'll admit!

Here's one of my favourite of their tracks ...

@SimonLandmine @spiny @vinomadic #ListeningClub Thanks, listening now and I can’t help how it reminds me of The Wonder Stuff.
@soundclamp @SimonLandmine @vinomadic saw them last night in Bristol :) blinding set :) #listeningclub
@soundclamp @SimonLandmine @vinomadic it was the 'Indie All Dayer' festival in bristol, got there a bit late, so missed Cud, but saw House Of Love, then Bluetones, then Jim Bob from Carter, doing quite a few Carter tracks, then Wonderstff, and Peter Hook to finish. Top day out, my ears are still ringing :) #listeningClub
