@ketan there's a lot of anti-windfarm sentiment here in Donegal, and one oft-cited reason is that it ruins the natural beauty of the landscape.

Sigh...

@hyc @ketan haha yeah I'm also from Ireland and when I drive around clare there's sooo many of these "no wind turbines here" posters scattered all around small towns. I don't get the sentiment at all they look fine and also west of Ireland is so windy like why would you not put wind turbines

@hyc @ketan There is (or was) an offshore wind farm proposed for a site 10-11 miles off Maryland’s eastern shore. Last time I visited there were a bunch of anti-wind farm flyers claiming that it would ruin the ocean views from the beaches and harm the tourism industry.

But the horizon is 3 miles away, if you’re standing on the beach. You wouldn’t be able to see the wind farm at all. It’s ridiculous.

@ketan Woahhhh! That first one in particular screams "Dune" to me, that's so cool.

@virtualwolf @ketan that’s a Wanderer Above the Sea of Fogs reference

Gorgeous! Loved looking at them. Such a very Chinese aesthetic. 🤗
Begs for a competition… 😊
Thank you so much for sharing these very beautiful pictures of wind farms 🙏🏻
@ketan not beautiful sorry...
@ketan so much for "but windmills are ugly and spoil the scenery."

@ketan these are powerful symbols. Maybe not of sustainable communities and resilient infrastructures we will all need, but for sure for the industrial transition.

There is awe in them.

@ketan

They have also been working on some massive solar power projects too.
China is an amazing country and they seem to be moving forward in technology at a rapid pace. 👍

@ketan

Great to see sheep grazing between solar PV panels.

How many sheep do you see graze the coal stockpiles of a thermal power plant or atop a nuclear reactor?
