In the middle of me leaving a voice mail for someone, they text me to tell me that they're on the other line and will call me back.

Because I'm in the middle of talking to their mailbox when the text message arrives, my wires are crossed. They're texting me and I respond by replying in voice as if the two were in sync.

"Hi so and so, this is Sheldon, just calling you to... Oh. Ok. That's fine. I see. Yes later is fine."

I suddenly realize that I'm leaving a completely incoherent voice mail so I try to explain what's happening.

"I know this sounds disjointed, but you're texting... I'm actually reading... oh never mind, uhhhh..."

At that point I give up, hang up the phone in mid-stutter, and text them back.

@sysop408 @paninid The funny thing is they were probably *reading* your voicemail as you were leaving it because of the call screening functionality on today’s phones.
