Interesting. You can post even after moving your account. That's new.
At the moment, for myself, working, and also considering moving my main account. The admin is friendly (mivatter.com), but they’re not very experienced, and I’d rather not keep dealing with the growing pains.
Let’s have that conversation.
I like Vivaldi. I like Vivaldi Social. But you’re still a corporation. I may in the future need to say things, from a public relations standpoint, that could be bad—things that, while you still have a U.S.A. office, would be bad.
I do have an account on Vivaldi Social, @NetscapeNavigator
. But there are lines there that I’ll never cross, but may need to cross if things here in America get as bad as I suspect.
Vivaldi is mostly something I use carefully.
I'm happy that you like Vivaldi Social and Vivaldi. I'm in the U.S. myself, somewhat near Vivaldi's office. I do not speak for @Vivaldi, but it is a small company.
As long as your posts don't violate any of our server rules as shown on https://social.vivaldi.net/about, Vivaldi's Community Code of Conduct and/or Terms of Use, you'll be fine. 👍
Which I perfectly comprehend. And why my primary account will not be on Vivaldi Social.
Vivaldi Social is using a modified copy of Mastodon. So this will be interesting.
Other Fedi sites still show you've moved because it is not meant to be undone (see screenshot). But when visiting you on Vivaldi, everything looks normal (see other screenshot).
I am curious on how this will play out.
You could always move here. 👋
The reason I often use Mastodon as a fallback is that it’s typically limited to 500 characters, whereas Misskey starts at around 3,000 characters.
This allows me to be as clear as possible when explaining things, reducing the chance of misunderstandings (unless someone is intentionally trying to misunderstand). It also prevents trolls from cutting into a thread and burying your message. In the past, I’ve experienced this, and what I said was easily taken out of context.
Your concern surrounding the character limit should not be a problem. 😉
