I recall the attempts to quell assembly by large groups back at the end of last century (so called new age travellers as a focal point) and I feel it’s worse now. I get the sense that the UK Labour Party has always had a vein of authoritarianism preaent, but the current lot are so obsessed with getting likes from Reform voters and the right wing media* that they’re edging towards full authoritarian state.
* spoiler for their SPADs - you can never be nasty enough for them to like you much less vote for you whilst those who could be coaxed towards supporting you become ever-more distanced.
