I had trouble eating some home-cooked couscous recently. It was just too dry on its own.

Feeling inspired (or perhaps pulling out a memory of previous experiences with it), I tried eating it with a little bit of sour cream mixed with a bit of olive oil. It made a world of difference.

I didn’t grow up eating it and restaurant eating is often limited. How do you eat couscous?

#couscous

@helianthropy Never made it at home; in restaurant it would come with other dishes.

I consider it to be similar to rice which needs something wet enough to eat with, yogurt for example in a pinch.

@helianthropy I'm assuming we're writing about semolina because couscous is a stew traditionally served on semolina.

Semolina is indeed dry on it's own and to be served with saucy dishes, I'll reach out for quinoa otherwise. I serve it with tajines, couscous and other stews, for example this winter vegetable couscous.

When my partner has an upset stomach, they eat it with chicken broth (from Better Than Bouillon or powder). I replace the water (x1.33 the weight of semolina) with broth and serve with more broth on the side, to add until it's saucy but not soupy.
