Fellow #gamedev Linux folks

What's your stack for making 3D games excluding full engines like Godot or Unity?

Anyone had any success with #golang #go?

@grono Odin with sokol or Raylib is awesome, and surprisingly Love2D has some awesome 3D projects, look into g3d.

haven't messed with go much, but Odin is very similar

@wibblyfrog ah I should try out Odin. I've heard about it a lot but never did anything with it!
@grono @wibblyfrog Odin will feel very similar if you have been working with Go, though the std lib is nowhere near what you're used to. But it's got everything you need for game dev. Be prepared to write you're own bindings though, the Linux layer is not fleshed out yet.

@chrisn yea the community bindings move pretty fast luckily but there's not too many. though writing bindings really isn't hard luckily, it has really solid interop.

biggest challenge for me personally was getting it running on nix and getting nix to find the dlls that are packages with the vendor libraries.

would be nice if there was a larger community off of discord to interact with though.

@wibblyfrog the community is Discord-only I'm afraid. There is #odin-lang on irc.liberal.chat, but its pretty much dead (I still check in from time to time though).
