I almost considered changing my plans, as it looks overcast out there, but I should take things as they come. On the way to Cuxhaven today, another coastal visit, in a singledecker train. The seats are so close together, my knees press against the back of the next one. It is impossible to sit here comfortably. Fortunately this section of the journey, to Bremerhaven, is only thirty-four minutes.

Coffee in hand, the train leaves on time.

Nothing to see here, quite literally. The train windows are covered in multi-coloured graffiti, so anything we are hurrying past - no matter how beautiful the landscape might be - is invisible.

I am more concerned with trying to get comfortable in this seat, though.

Sitting sideways in my seat, legs stretched out in the aisle, but my right knee is still pressed against the seat in front. [insert appropriate four letter expletive here, and repeat]

I keep on getting notifications from my DB App on trains and connections to Erfurt over Göttingen. I had planned a trip there, but changed my mind, and forgot to remove the bookmark.

Still, if anyone is trying to trace me from my online movements, they'll go in the wrong direction. And my Internet connection suggests I am in Stuttgart anyway.

Also a good alibi in case I want to.... but no, we'll keep that for later.

Grey skies and the tops of windmills, what a view!

Bremerhaven. Change trains - directly across, no running - and find glorious leg room. And a table, of sorts.

Comfortable enough for me to unpack my book - "Die Buchhandlung der Exilanten" by Uwe Neumahr, about Shakespeare and Company in the occupation years - and read.

Bremerhaven-Lehe, a large class of teenage school children piles into my carriage. The peace and quiet is gone.

Safely here, now a half an hour to the beach and, what joy, the school children are in the same bus. It's only six kilometres, and I am considering walking there to protect my ears.

The school children, and their teachers, have just discovered not only that their luggage has wheels but also that this bus drives around corners and long curves.

A quick rearrangement of all the suitcases, which found themselves partially on the otherside of the bus, partially wandering off in all other directions.

The next bus stop, on the 1006, is Adolfstraße and my first thought was....

Bus stop 'Seelust' and panic. This is where the children disembark and, after all their complaints about how long the journey is, none of them are ready.

My stop is, appropriately, called Ahoi, and off we go. Will there be sand?

@uc First, there will be a point to pay your tourist tax :(

@llutz

I had that in Sankt Peter-Ording, but there seems to be nothing here, no barriers, hardly any people.

@uc Lucky you, enjoy your stay.

@llutz

Thank you, I shall do my best.

@uc Named after "Adolf Grube" (a local farmer) way earlier than appearance of the austrian idiot.

@llutz

Good to know, but I think my first thought might be understandable. Pity they didn't take his full name, though.
