A great example of why real reform is hard/impossible. Even on small things like this the capitalists are threatening to go on strike.

Labor will fold and nobody will be surprised.

"The prime minister is poised to kill off a move to increase taxes on gas giants in next month's budget, echoing the industry's argument that exporters are already paying tens of billions of dollars in taxes each year"

And there we go. Pathetic!

Albanese poised to kill off move to increase taxes on gas giants

The government will not increase taxes on gas giants in next month's budget, echoing the industry's argument that exporters are already paying tens of billions of dollars in taxes each year.

@jessta
It’s thoroughlly disheartening to see a #Labor #PM mouth off #FossilFuelLobby #TalkingPoints as if he doesn’t have a brain capable of thinking for himself.

AND

If I am wrong, then what is so hard for #AlboPM to explain his position and the critical thinking he applied to arrive there?

IMO

The fact that he hasn’t told Australians what is on his mind is all the answers I need. The #PM is a fool and a traitor to #LaborValues.

The #Greens have my vote from now on.

@RaymondPierreL3 @jessta

I think a good many Labor voters would do well to look closely at policies from The Greens because they might find a better match in lots of areas.

We don't see proper coverage of The Greens in our media though. They get treated like a side show when in fact they're the major progressive force in Australia.

@ewen
There is, it seems to me, a great need for the greens to get serious about getting the word out. In whatever form it may take, they sorely need it.

Why arenlt the #greens (official) on the #fedi? Are they? If so where? Do they run an #instance? They absolutely should! And toot like crazy.

#AusPol

@RaymondPierreL3 @ewen the greens on the fediverse would kind of be preaching to the converted would it not?
@RaymondPierreL3

I follow a local Greens member here. But I'm not the audience that needs to be converted.

I live in one of the most progressive regions of the country too. I see plenty of their messaging. They have been working very hard for a long time to get their message out.

I don't know what would change the current dynamics. I do know the media don't give them due airtime. But the media love to talk about Pauline and her crazy stuff, which plays right into the lazy tropes. She's a bankable personality that gets clicks.

Good politics requires thoughtful debate and consideration however. Our media aren't into that.
