Ikea’s #Matter over #Thread smart plug with power metering, Grillplats, is finally here in EU at 7,99€ aaaand of course the power metering is not exposed to #HomeKit via custom characteristics, just like with the older Inspelning. The only option if you need HK-readable power values still remains Eve Energy at exactly 5x the price. #ikea

@fichek That’s Apples fault: IKEA is 100% Matter and does not implement the HomeKit Accessory Protocol. Its on iOS to expose the energy data to HomeKit, they have it. Or, finally make Matter accessible beyond the protocol level to Apps and UI.

@gernot I guess that makes sense, it does have to expose power metering via Matter because their own hub uses the same protocol and transport to read that data. I just hoped it would work automatically since the newer Matter-only Eve Energy does it, but I guess they go the extra mile somehow.

@pax0707 yeah I did that with Inspelning, but was hoping this one would just work. Keep forgetting HomeKit is abandonware 🙁
